Mint Mobile Deal: Free Month of Service With Promo Code – Technologist
For a limited time, new customers switching to Mint Mobile (Review) can pay for two months of service and get the third month free! That brings the total price for Mint Mobile’s 3-month 5GB plan to $30, which works out to only $10/month.
In this article, I’ll take a closer look at Mint Mobile’s latest deal including who’s eligible and what you’ll get for the price.
Get Mint Mobile’s 5GB Plan for $10/Month
Now through January 2, new customers joining Mint Mobile can join on the 5GB plan for only $10/month for their first three months. That brings the total upfront price to $30 for three months, which is the same as getting one month free!
When you visit Mint Mobile’s website, you’ll see the company’s long-running new customer offer advertised which includes three months on any plan for $45 ($15/month). Right now, new customers can select the 3-month 5GB plan and use the promo code FREEMONTH during checkout. This will drop the price from $45 to $30, meaning you’ll get one month of service for free.
Here’s what you’ll get with Mint Mobile’s 5GB plan:
- Unlimited talk and text
- 5GB high-speed data followed by unlimited reduced speeds
- Access to T-Mobiles 5G network
- Typical download speeds: 79-357 Mbps
- Mobile hotspot (shared from your plan’s high-speed data allotment)
- Free calling to Mexico and Canada
- Wi-Fi Calling
After your first three months, plan rates will return to normal. For the 5GB plan, that’s $75 for three months ($25/month), $120 for six months ($20/month) or $180 for a year ($15/month). Mint Mobile is a prepaid cell phone service provider and you can cancel at any time.
To get this deal, visit Mint Mobile’s website. From there, select the 3-month 5GB plan and enter promo code FREEMONTH during checkout. Before you decide to make the switch, be sure to read my full Mint Mobile review here.
Mint Mobile: An Affordable T-Mobile MVNO
If you aren’t familiar with Mint Mobile, it’s an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that runs on T-Mobile’s towers. It provides access to the same service and 5G network (on capable devices) for a fraction of the price.
If you have service in your area from T-Mobile, you’ll likely also be covered by Mint Mobile. Other resellers and MVNOs that use T-Mobile’s towers include Tello Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, US Mobile, Google Fi Wireless and more.
When you purchase a plan from Mint Mobile, you’ll have to pay for at least three months of service in advance. That brings the plan prices (at regular rates) to $75-$120 upfront ($25-$40/month), and you’ll be covered for 90 days from activation. Additionally, you can prepay for six months or a year in advance to get better overall prices.
Compared to T-Mobile itself, you’ll find an excellent price with Mint Mobile’s phone plans. T-Mobile’s unlimited postpaid plans start at $50/month for one line with autopay. While you’ll get more high-speed data and additional postpaid benefits, you’ll find a better price with Mint Mobile’s unlimited plan (as low as $30/month when prepaid annually). Other plans from Mint Mobile begin as low as $15/month at regular rates (5GB annual plan).
Compared to other prepaid plans, Mint Mobile’s prices are still competitive. This is especially true with the current promo code bringing three months of service to $30. Even after the promotion expires, Mint Mobile’s $15/month regular rate for the 5GB annual plan is still excellent. Here are a few 5GB plans from other affordable providers on T-Mobile’s network:
- Connect by T-Mobile (Review): $15/month for 5GB data plus unlimited talk and text.
- US Mobile (Review): $15/month for 5GB data with US Mobile’s “By the Gig” plan. Add more lines for $8/line and share the data. Choose the “Light Speed” network to access T-Mobile’s towers.
- Tello Mobile (Review): $14/month for 5GB data plus unlimited talk and text. This plan doesn’t include unlimited reduced speeds once you’ve met your monthly data allotment. For a limited time, new customers can get this plan for $10 the first month.
