Capital One Shakes Up Its ‘Savor’ Line of Credit Cards – Technologist
Do you have one of the Savor credit cards offered by Capital One? Changes are afoot.
Capital One recently announced that it was making some major changes to the line of credit cards that offers enhanced rewards on spending in categories like dining and entertainment.
Effective October 22, 2024, the following changes took place:
- The Capital One Savor Card, which was a $95 annual fee credit card that offered perks like 4% cash back on dining, was removed from the card lineup.
- The card formerly known as “Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card” was rebranded to “Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card.” This card has no annual fee and offers 3% cash back on dining.
- There are two versions of this new Savor Cash Rewards: One with the “best” offers for consumers with “Excellent” credit and one with a scaled-down offer for those with “Good” credit.
- The new Savor Cash Rewards card has new card art and a fresh welcome bonus.
- Additionally, the “Capital One SavorOne Student Cash Rewards Credit Card” has become the “Capital One Savor Student Cash Rewards Credit Card.”
What the Savor Card Looks Like Moving Forward
That list of changes may sound a little confusing if you’re not super familiar with the Savor brand of credit cards, so let’s simplify it by looking only at what is available moving forward.
The simplest way to think about this rebrand is that the SavorOne simply dropped the “One” in the name and became the “new” Savor card.
It does have fancy new card art and an attractive new welcome bonus, but the bones of the card are still mostly the same as the old “SavorOne”: 3% cash back on dining, entertainment and streaming services without an annual fee.
The new version of the card_name includes the following:

Is This Version of Savor Worth It?
If you read our credit card content often, you likely know that money expert Clark Howard generally recommends that you carry a no-annual-fee credit card that gives you unlimited 2% back on all purchases.
Any rewards credit card you add after that should be geared toward beating the 2% back you have established as your baseline reward.
This card does offer people who frequently dine out and spend a night on the town a chance to do that in a few spending categories.
But does that mean this particular card is the best option for you to beat 2%? It really depends on your personal spending habits.
You can use our new cash back credit card tool to see which rewards credit card could fit best in your wallet.
