Fidelity Adds 2 Great Travel Benefits To Cash Back Credit Card – Technologist

The Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card is already one of the top cash back credit cards on the market.

And now it is seemingly getting even better.

The rewards card that gives unlimited 2% cash back to cardholders who deposit their rewards into a Fidelity investment product recently notified cardholders that it has two new travel benefits to offer.

Cardholders will now receive the following benefits:

  • TSA PreCheck® and Global Entry® credit
  • Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver

Last year, Fidelity announced that it was removing foreign transaction fees from the card.

This trio of perks is usually reserved for travel credit cards. They are rarely found as perks for no annual fee cards. So, this is potentially a big deal for existing and prospective cardholders who could make use of these benefits!

Let’s take a closer look at what Fidelity is offering with these new benefits.

Fidelity’s 2 New Travel Perks for Credit Card Users

Let’s start with the one that is probably most exciting to cardholders:

TSA PreCheck® and Global Entry® Credit

Earn up to $100 when you simplify your airport security process.

Receive up to 10,000 Reward Points every four years when you apply for either Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck®.

That’s worth up to $100 when deposited into an eligible Fidelity® account, once every four years. Be sure to pay the application fee using your card to be eligible.

According to Fidelity, this is how it works:

  • Use your Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® card to pay the application fee.
  • Follow the application steps as outlined by either TSA PreCheck® or Global Entry®.
  • This benefit is available to be redeemed on a single transaction, once every four years.

You can read more details on this perk here.

If you’ve ever listened to money expert Clark Howard’s travel advice, you know he’s a proponent of lowering your airport wait times with either TSA PreCheck® or Global Entry®. And I’ll be adding this card to my list of credit cards that offer this awesome perk.

To better understand the difference between these travel programs, you can read this comparison I put together for Team Clark.

Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver

Get built-in Auto Rental Coverage for up to $75,000 for physical damage, vandalism and theft when you use your eligible card to rent a covered vehicle.

According to Fidelity, these are the steps to take to ensure you’re covered at no additional cost:

  • Use your covered Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® card to reserve and pay for the entire cost of the rental.
  • Decline the rental agency’s Collision Damage Waiver.
  • On the rental agreement, list your name as the primary renter, plus any additional drivers’ names.

You can read more details on this perk here.

Getting free car rental coverage from your credit card is a convenient but somewhat complicated topic. You may want to read this rundown I created for Team Clark on the subject to make sure you’re getting the coverage you need when booking your next trip.

Even if you don’t use this perk, let this space be a reminder that Clark recommends declining the rental agency’s persistent offers to sell you their own secondary collision coverage.

Do you have this card? Are you excited about the new perks? And, if you don’t, will these new benefits tempt you to apply? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the Clark.com community.
