RedPocket Mobile (Review) is celebrating Black Friday this year by discounting its monthly and annual unlimited plans. For a limited time, monthly plans begin at $10 for 10GB of 5G data for your first month with RedPocket. Annual plans start at $100 (pay for 10 months, get two months free) now through Cyber Monday.
In this article, I’ll take a closer look at RedPocket’s latest deal including what you’ll get with RedPocket’s monthly and annual plans as well as how they compare to other available plans.
Save up to $80 With RedPocket’s Black Friday Deal
RedPocket Mobile offers four different cell phone plans that you can purchase monthly or annually. Now through Cyber Monday (December 2) new RedPocket customers can save up to $20 on a monthly plan or up to $80 on an annual plan.
In honor of Black Friday, RedPocket is offering 50% off your first month on most monthly plans (Unlimited Essentials excluded). Alternatively, you can prepay for 10 months on any plan and get two additional months for free with RedPocket’s current discount on annual plans.
Here are the available monthly plans with their current discounted prices:
- Unlimited Plus (10GB high-speed data): $10 first month; $20 regular rates
- Unlimited Premium (30GB high-speed data + 5GB hotspot): $15 first month; $30 regular rates
- Unlimited Elite (30GB high-speed data + 20GB hotspot): $20 first month; $40 regular rates
Additionally, here are the available annual plans with their current discounted prices:
- Unlimited Essentials (1GB high-speed data): $100 first year ($8.33/month); $120/year regular rates
- Unlimited Plus (10GB high-speed data): $200 first year ($16.67/month); $240/year regular rates
- Unlimited Premium (30GB high-speed data + 5GB hotspot): $300 first year ($25/month); $360/year regular rates
- Unlimited Elite (30GB high-speed data + 20GB hotspot): $400 first year ($33.33/month); $480/year regular rates
All RedPocket plans include unlimited talk, text and data (speeds slow once you’ve reached your monthly high-speed data allotment).
If you purchase a monthly plan, rates will return to normal after 30 days. Customers on annual plans will be able to renew at regular rates after the first year. To get this deal or to learn more about RedPocket’s Black Friday sales event, visit the company’s website.
RedPocket Mobile is a prepaid cell phone service provider and you can cancel your service at any time.
RedPocket Mobile: A Flexible, Affordable MVNO
If you aren’t familiar with RedPocket, it’s an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that provides access to the major cell phone network of your choice. If you have the best service in your area with AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, you can choose to keep the same service with RedPocket.
Compared to postpaid plans directly from any of the major cell phone service providers, RedPocket Mobile offers excellent prices. T-Mobile’s plans begin at $50 per line per month with Essentials Savers (autopay required) while AT&T and Verizon’s plans begin at $65 per line per month with autopay. While you’ll get more high-speed data and additional postpaid benefits with these plans, you’ll find cheaper prices with RedPocket.
When it comes to other prepaid phone plans, RedPocket still offers competitive rates. This is especially true with the current discounts on monthly and annual phone plans. However, you can find better deals with other prepaid MVNOs at regular rates. To compare, here are a few of our other favorite affordable cell phone providers:
- Tello Mobile (Team Clark’s Review): Tello offers 1GB of high-speed data for $9/month or 2GB for $10. These prices are comparable to RedPocket’s 1GB monthly plan for $10, though Tello offers double the data for the same price. Tello also offers 10GB for $19, which is $1 cheaper than RedPocket’s Unlimited Plus plan (10GB). However, with RedPocket’s current deal, you can get Unlimited Plus for half the price your first month. Finally, Tello’s Unlimited plan includes 35GB of high-speed data + 5GB mobile hotspot for $25, which is slightly better than RedPocket’s Unlimited Premium plan at regular rates. However, you can get RedPocket’s Unlimited Premium (30GB high-speed data + 5GB mobile hotspot) for $15 your first month with the current discount.
- US Mobile (Team Clark’s Review): US Mobile offers a Light Plan for $10/month or $96/year ($8/month) for 2GB of high-speed data. Monthly unlimited plans begin at $25 for 35GB of premium data plus 10GB mobile hotspot. Annually, US Mobile’s annual plans begin at $210 ($17.50/month) for 10GB of high-speed data plus 5GB mobile hotspot, which is a better deal than RedPocket’s annual Unlimited Plus plan for $240. However, with RedPocket’s current deal, you can get the same annual plan for $200 making it slightly cheaper than US Mobile.
- Visible (Team Clark’s Review): Visible’s unlimited plans begin at $25/month or $275/year ($22.92/month) for unlimited data and mobile hotspot. However, mobile hotspot speeds are reduced to 5Mbps with Visible’s basic unlimited plan.
- Mint Mobile (Team Clark’s Review): Mint Mobile offers any plan for $15/month for the first three months to new customers, including the unlimited plan with 40GB of high-speed data that can be shared via mobile hotspot. After three months, you’ll find the best deals with Mint Mobile’s annual plans. You can get 5GB of high-speed data/month for $180/year ($15/month) which is a great deal for light data users. The Unlimited plan (40GB/month + 10GB hotspot) is available for $360 annually ($30/month).
When it comes to prepaid phone plans, here’s my recommendation: Try a month first if you haven’t used the service provider before. Then, you can choose whether you’d like to opt for an annual plan. If you prepay for a year of service in advance only to find out later that you don’t have great service in your area or that the SIM card doesn’t work with your phone, you’ll be out a lot of money.
